Volunteer Movement Association

Volunteer, Take Action!

For us volunteering is an act people undertake of their own free will, for the benefit of someone other than themselves, and without material reward.

Who is a volunteer?

A volunteer is anyone who can put their physical strength, time, knowledge, skills or experience to work for the programmes, projects and activities of Volunteer Movement. Volunteers are our most important and most valuable resource in achieving what the association sets out to do.

As volunteers share their time, knowledge, labour, effort and resources, they contribute directly to the development of society and raise its quality of life — because volunteering is an act built on transforming both oneself and one's society.

Everyone who joins Volunteer Movement works professionally, with an amateur's spirit.

Who can volunteer?

To join Volunteer Movement you need to meet these conditions:

  • Be at least 12 years old
  • Share the mission, vision, aims and principles of Volunteer Movement
  • Undertake to support the work of Volunteer Movement
  • Have no conviction for a disgraceful offence

Step by Step

How Volunteering Works

  1. Wanting to Volunteer

You can be a volunteer in a programme or a social responsibility project, a member of a campaign team, a volunteer in a local group, a volunteer trainer or an expert in one of our areas of work — in short, an important part of this movement for a more liveable world.

  2. Applying

You took the first step towards volunteering simply by reaching this page. What is left is to apply in line with your interests and your wishes. We will get in touch with you as soon as we can, according to the position you applied for and what is needed at the time.

    Fill in the application form
  3. The Invitation

Everyone who fills in and sends the Volunteer Application Form is invited to an Introduction Meeting. There, candidates get to know Volunteer Movement more closely and to introduce themselves.

At the end of the meeting the Volunteer Information Form is filled in and the Volunteer Commitment is signed.

With the Introduction Meeting, the volunteering journey of those who join Volunteer Movement has begun.

  4. Joining the Volunteer Training Programme

The Volunteer Training Programme has four steps:

    Volunteer Orientation

    1 day

Training in which volunteers learn about volunteering and civil society, and take part in a range of workshops.

    Teamwork and Communication Training

    1 day

Training enriched with workshops, built to strengthen dialogue, cooperation and communication among volunteers and to keep them going.

    Project Management Training

    1 day

Training in which volunteers learn the project cycle, campaign management and fundraising methods they will need when creating or running social responsibility activities and projects.

    Volunteer Work

    ongoing

The time spent taking part in activities as a volunteer.

  5. Volunteering

Volunteers are expected to attend the first Volunteer Orientation Training held after they join. Only then can they take part in a social responsibility project.

Throughout the process the training and the work set out in the Volunteer Training Programme (GEP) are carried out.

  6. Review, Thanks and Motivation

Volunteer Movement works to make volunteering a way of life for everyone, and for young people above all. Those who complete the training may take part in activities for a short while — but our hope is that they stay a volunteer of the Volunteer Movement family for many years.

The work our volunteers do is reviewed regularly. Our team and our volunteers hold a range of gatherings to keep motivation high, and the work done is always recognised in one way or another.
